Worship and Service

By Joe Widick

I don’t know where I will be worshipping this Lords Day.  I may be at a bilingual service on the Baxter campus in Tegucigalpa with close to 1000 others who will be praising our God.  I may be in Siquatepeque worshipping with saints from a small community where the church is growing stronger and stronger.  I may worship at Guanacaste in Tegucigalpa, where the Lord’s church has been blessed with elders.  Regardless of where I worship, I will be surrounded by godly men and women who love the Lord, just as I would be if I were here at Maple Hill.  It is always rewarding, uplifting, inspiring to worship with the saints wherever one finds themselves.  I know that Wayne’s lesson today will be uplifting, challenging and from the heart.  I know that wherever I find myself worshiping that I too will be uplifted, challenged and inspired to greater service in the kingdom.  This past Wednesday, George and Stephonia Summers, Jeff, Terry and Kyla Hallums, Reed and Tricia Thomas, along with Elaine and I left the cold of middle Tennessee for the warm weather of Honduras.
The representatives from Maple Hill, who have made this trip, will have the special opportunity to be with many of our missionaries who in years past have graduated from Baxter.  I am always impressed with the service these young men give to the kingdom.  It has been an amazing year in the mission field.  The service these young men have done always makes me look at my service and ask what I am doing.  Of the thirteen men who are actually on the field (not all in Latin America) there have been 105 precious souls added to the kingdom as of the first of November.  There are countless Bible studies that are ongoing.  Deacons have been appointed in some congregations.  A new congregation has been established.  Untold number of visits has been made.  Relationships have been established.  Programs to develop leadership within the congregation have been started.  Why:  To bring more glory and honor to the Lord.  How:  Because of your kind and generous spirit of giving to the work of the Lord.
Those who have traveled to Honduras will miss being with you today, but we will be thankful to have the privilege to worship with other brothers and sisters in the kingdom, your brothers and sisters.   We will be thankful to re-visit with many of these men who serve the Lord, and I am sure that each of us as we return on Monday will say to each other, I really do need to do a better job in my service to the Lord.

Prayer Thought:  Be with those who have traveled to Honduras
