This Week’s Lesson
Able... But Willing? (Luke 5:12-16)
What is your first instinct when someone sneezes around you? Most of us instinctively pull away. We know what it feels like to be sick, and we want to avoid it at all costs. On top of that, life is busy and nobody has time to be laid up sick.
But parents of young children know that avoiding sickness is not always an option. When your child is hurting, you draw near. You comfort them, care for them, and nurse them back to health, even when it means you might get sick too.
Thankfully, Jesus responds to us a similar way. He does not run from the contagion of our sin. He draws near. He reaches out. He heals.
This Sunday morning at Maple Hill, we will see the true heart of Jesus. He is not repelled by our sin-sick souls. Instead, His first impulse is to reach out and bring healing to our souls.
Sunday Schedule (May 24, 2026)
- 9 AM - Worship. Sermon: “Able... But Willing?" (Luke 5:12-16)
- 10:30 AM - Bible Classes for All Ages
- House Churches will meet at various times and locations Sunday afternoon/evening. There will also be a traditional Sunday night service at 5 PM at the church building.

7. Therefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. 8. Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. 9. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
